Increase in Value of Public Transport Vouchers, 60,000 More Households Eligible
1. The Government understands the cost-of-living concerns faced by Singaporeans. Lower-income households would need more assistance to cope with the fare adjustment that will be implemented from 28 December 2024. As such, the Government will make available Public Transport Vouchers (PTVs) worth $60 each for the 2024 PTV Exercise, higher than the $50 PTVs made available in the 2023 PTV Exercise. Households can use the PTVs to top up fare cards or buy monthly passes.
2. The income eligibility criterion for PTVs will also be raised to cover resident households with monthly household income per person of not more than $1,800, compared to $1,600 for last year’s Exercise. The increase in eligibility criteria will benefit an additional 60,000 households as they could qualify for a PTV in this year’s Exercise.
3. Similar to the 2023 PTV Exercise, there will be two stages for the 2024 PTV Exercise. In the first stage, households that received a voucher during the 2023 PTV Exercise and continue to meet the income eligibility criteria will automatically receive a PTV. These households need not submit a new application for this year’s PTV Exercise. Notification letters will be sent via post to eligible households by end-December 2024. Households that have indicated their preference for digital means of communication with LetterSG will also receive a digital letter by end-December 2024.
4. In the second stage starting from early 2025, households that meet the eligibility criteria but did not receive a voucher in the first stage can apply for PTVs online or in person at their local Community Centres/Clubs (CCs). Details on the application process will be shared later.
5. Upon receiving their PTV notification letter, households can follow the instructions on the letter to redeem their voucher via the SimplyGo app or at any SimplyGo Kiosk, Top-Up Kiosk, Assisted Service Kiosk, SimplyGo Ticket Office or SimplyGo Ticketing Service Centre from 30 December 2024 onwards. Vouchers for the 2024 PTV Exercise will be valid for redemption until 31 March 2026. Residents may approach their local CCs if they have any queries.
