Mr Saktiandi Supaat asked the Minister for Transport whether the Ministry will consider procuring public buses that have luggage racks or retrofitting existing buses and trains so that travellers and commuters who are travelling on the public transport from the airports to the city and vice versa have provisions to put their luggage.
Reply by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:
1. Buses and trains that serve the airport also serve other areas, and the installation of dedicated luggage racks would reduce space available for other passengers, including for wheelchair users and prams. Our public transport operators do allow luggage to be placed in shared spaces when these are not occupied by wheelchairs and prams.
