Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Allocated Spaces and Time-Controlled Charging Points in HDB Car Parks for Motorised Personal Mobility Aids

14 Oct 2024In Parliament
Miss Rachel Ong asked the Minister for Transport whether there can be allocated spaces and time-controlled charging points in HDB carparks for motorised personal mobility aids, with priority charging given to those staying in smaller HDB flats with space limitations.

Reply by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     Currently, motorised personal mobility aids and other motorised active mobility devices (AMDs) such as power-assisted bicycles and motorised personal mobility devices do not require special charging infrastructure and can be charged using standard wall sockets found at home. We urge AMD users to practise safe charging practices, such as maintaining their devices based on the manufacturer’s guidelines and not to modify their devices.

2.     I thank the Member for her suggestion of having public charging points in Housing and Development Board carparks. We will assess if this could help to enhance safety for device users and the public.
