Public Transport Vouchers Available to Provide Support for Lower-Income Households

18 Sep 2023Press Releases

1.     To help lower-income households cope with the public transport fare adjustment that will take effect from 23 December 2023, the Government will make available Public Transport Vouchers (PTVs) worth $50 each, which can be used to top up fare cards or buy monthly passes. This year’s PTV Exercise will continue to cover resident households with monthly household income per person of not more than $1,600.

2.     Similar to the 2022 PTV Exercise, there will be two stages for the 2023 PTV Exercise. In the first stage, households that received a voucher during the 2022 PTV Exercise and continue to meet the income eligibility criteria will automatically receive a PTV notification letter. These households need not submit a new application for this year’s PTV Exercise. Notification letters will be sent to these eligible households by end-December 2023.

3.     In the second stage starting from early 2024, households that meet the eligibility criteria but did not receive a voucher in the first stage can apply for PTVs online or in person at their local Community Centres/Clubs (CCs). Details on the application will be shared later.

4.     Upon receiving their PTV notification letter, households can follow the instructions on the letter to redeem their voucher via the SimplyGo app or at any SimplyGo Kiosks, Top-Up Kiosks, Assisted Service Kiosks, SimplyGo Ticket Offices or SimplyGo Ticketing Service Centres from 27 December 2023 onwards. Vouchers for the 2023 PTV Exercise will be valid until 31 March 2025. Residents may approach their local CCs if they have any queries.
