Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Public Bus Connectivity in Dover Road Area

27 Feb 2025In Parliament

Mr Leong Mun Wai asked the Minister for Transport

a.     what were the main reasons for amending the route of Bus Service 14 to no longer serve bus stops along Dover Avenue and Dover Road from 9 September 2018;

b.     whether the $900 million Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme that was announced on 30 July 2024 will improve public bus connectivity for residents in the Dover Crescent area; and

c.     if so, how.

Reply by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     Service 14 was amended in 2018 to provide a direct connection to Buona Vista MRT for residents of new Build-To-Order flat developments along Commonwealth Avenue West, such as Ghim Moh Edge and Ghim Moh Valley. This is a direct connection that was not available prior to the service amendment.

2.     Residents living near Dover Road and Dover Avenue are served by bus services 33, 74, 166, and 196 which continue to ply those roads. These bus services connect residents to Buona Vista and Dover MRT stations, as well as to Service 14 via a single transfer. As part of the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme, more trips have been added to Service 33.
