Singapore and China Sign MOU to Strengthen Cooperation in the Future of Mobility

1.     A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in the Future of Mobility was signed between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Singapore and the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China on 27 September 2023.

2.     The MOU was signed by Mr Chee Hong Tat, Acting Minister for Transport, Singapore, and Mr Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport, China, during Mr Chee’s visit to Beijing from 24 to 27 September 2023 to attend the Global Sustainable Transport Forum, together with officials from the Ministry of Transport and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

3.     Mr Chee and Mr Li had a fruitful exchange on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Singapore and China, including the safe deployment of automated driving vehicles, electrification of vehicles for public and private transport, sustainable fuels for maritime and aviation industries, as well as enhancing connectivity between Singapore and China. 

4.     MPA also signed MOUs with the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, the Tianjin Port and Shipping Authority, and China Classification Society to deepen collaborations on digitalisation, decarbonisation, talent development and information exchange.
